Which carb crash symptoms do people describe?
The usual list is sleepiness, shakiness, hunger, sweating, irritability and trouble concentrating, often within hours of a carb-heavy meal.

What can a meter reading add?
A number, taken during the symptoms, turns a guess into a fact. That is all it adds, and it is plenty.
MedlinePlus calls readings under 70 mg/dL low, and says seizures usually come below 54 mg/dL (MedlinePlus, Low blood sugar). A reading of 70 or more during a spell points away from a low as the explanation.
It does not tell you the cause, and a single normal value does not rule out a problem. Whether you should own a meter is a question for your clinician.
A worked example, with invented numbers
Sam feels shaky at 3 p.m. on Monday and reads 95 mg/dL. On Thursday the same feeling arrives, and the reading is 62. Two spells, one set of symptoms, two different stories. Monday points away from a low. Thursday is a low and a reason to call a clinician that day.
