Chromium for Insulin Sensitivity: What Reviews Found and What 0.7 mcg Is
Chromium for insulin sensitivity is an unsettled topic. NIH says results of later studies were inconsistent, and FDA allows only a qualified claim it calls highly uncertain (NIH ODS, Chromium fact sheet for professionals). The diabetes trials used about 1,400 times the 0.7 mcg printed on the Glyco Reset label, and no trial tested this bottle.

What do reviews say about chromium for insulin sensitivity?
They say the evidence is mixed. A 1997 trial gave 1,000 mcg a day to 180 adults with type 2 diabetes and reported lower fasting glucose and HbA1c; later studies were inconsistent (NIH ODS, Chromium fact sheet for professionals).
A 2007 review of 41 trials found a small HbA1c difference in type 2 diabetes and none in people without it. Almost half of those trials were poor quality, and the weaker ones showed the bigger effects (Balk 2007, Chromium and glucose metabolism (review)).
We found no source that proves chromium improves how the body responds to insulin.
How big is the gap between those studies and the label?
Very big. The bars below set the label amount against the amount in the trial NIH describes.
The comparison. NIH recounts a 1997 trial giving adults with type 2 diabetes 1,000 mcg of chromium picolinate daily. The Adequate Intake, by contrast, is 20 to 35 mcg. (NIH ODS, Chromium fact sheet for professionals)
Read it with care. The studied amount comes from a different product, group and time span. It is not a recommended or effective dose, and no trial tested Glyco Reset.
The comparison. LiverTox cites 400 mg three times daily as a typical gymnema supplement amount. The label's 200 mg has to stretch across twenty-one names. (LiverTox, Gymnema)
Read it with care. The studied amount comes from a different product, group and time span. It is not a recommended or effective dose, and no trial tested Glyco Reset.
The comparison. LiverTox reports liver injury cases at roughly 800 mg to 1.8 g of extract daily. The whole blend totals 200 mg. (LiverTox, Green Tea)
Read it with care. The studied amount comes from a different product, group and time span. It is not a recommended or effective dose, and no trial tested Glyco Reset.
Each full bar is the daily amount used in the one study or reference we cite. The filled part is the most the label could give per dropper: the whole 200 mg blend is shared by 21 names, so any one plant is a fraction of that. The label also does not say whether each name is a powder or an extract, so even this comparison is rough.
The arithmetic: 1,000 divided by 0.7 is about 1,430.
What chromium amounts show up in public sources?
Three kinds: intake level, Daily Value and trial dose.
| Number | What it is | Meaning for this bottle |
|---|---|---|
| 20 to 35 mcg a day | Adequate Intake by age and sex | The label is a small fraction of it |
| 35 mcg | Daily Value on labels | 0.7 mcg prints as 2% DV |
| 1,000 mcg a day | Dose in the 1997 trial | About 1,430 times the label |
NIH reports no chromium deficiency in healthy people.
How can you check any chromium claim yourself?
Ask for the amount, the form and the study, in that order.
- Find the amount in mcg on the label.
- Find a study using that amount, with human participants.
- Tell your doctor and pharmacist. Chromium may add to diabetes medicine or insulin, NIH notes.
Our chromium page and the ingredient guide show the same checks on this label.
Where does Glyco Reset stand on chromium?

FAQ01
Questions about chromium
Does chromium picolinate help insulin work better?
Evidence is mixed. NIH says later studies were inconsistent and FDA allows only a qualified claim it calls highly uncertain. We found no study at the 0.7 mcg on the Glyco Reset label.
Is 0.7 mcg of chromium enough to matter?
It is 2% of the 35 mcg Daily Value and far below the 1,000 mcg trial dose. NIH reports no deficiency in healthy people, so we cannot say anyone needs more. Ask your doctor.
Can chromium interact with diabetes medicine?
NIH says chromium with insulin could increase the risk of low blood sugar, and metformin and other drugs may add to its effect. Tell your pharmacist about every supplement before you start.
Which chromium form do trials use?
NIH describes the 1997 trial as using chromium picolinate, the form named on this label. Trial amounts were far higher.
